Advantages of using VRKP Twin Ribbed TMT Bars for construction
Modern-day architecture is all about TMT bars. TMT or Thermo-Mechanically Treated bars are high-strength reinforcement bars that have a tough outer core and a soft inner core.
There are mainly four grades that TMT bar fall under- Fe 415, 500, 550, & 600 available in the market.
Many steel companies make patterns on the outer surface of their bars. These patterns offer anchorage to concrete at the time of construction and ensure that the materials do not slip in future. At our steel plant, we manufacture the Twin Ribbed TMT Steel Bars. At VRKP we manufacture only Fe500 & Fe550 twin ribbed TMT Bars.
Twin Ribbed TMT steel bars or deformed TMT bars are manufactured by controlled cold twisting of hot-rolled bars. These TMT rebars are commonly used as reinforcement in concrete structures such as building, bridge, road, precast concrete etc.
The deformations make it easy for concrete to grip the steel, which gives the structure more stability and durability.
Here are some advantages of using VRKP Twin Ribbed TMT bars in construction:
- They offer less friction.
- With these bars, you can achieve uniform load distribution.
- The structural properties of these bars are better than that of ordinary plain round bars.
- They provide better bonding strength between steel rods and concrete which gives the structure higher strength during earthquakes or floods. Without these ribs, concrete loses its grip leading to the collapse of the entire building.
- Because of excellent bonding properties, the end hooks are not required.
- They can be used for all major types of the reinforced concrete structure.
- Bending, fixing and handling of these bars is very simple which makes them cost-effective.
- Due to low silicon and carbon, these bars are also less expensive.
- They are primarily used for alloying, manufacturing fabricated steel structures and re-melting.
- Ribbed TMT steel bars provide around 40% more bonding strength because of its unique pattern.
- These steel bars are used in RCC constructions that require high strength reinforcement steel bars like bridges or multi-storeyed buildings.
LRF or Ladle Refining Furnace technology is used to refine molten metal. It is the best way to produce high-quality steel that involves de-sulphurising the molten metal and removing impurities. The ‘Ladle Refining Furnace’ provides a superior grade to our TMT bars.
Some advantages of LRF Technology are:
- Efficient de-sulphurisation
- A vacuum environment is attained in LRF, which allows production of high-quality alloy steel.
- Easy removal of impurities
- Less power consumption
- Lower cost of operation and maintenance
- Reduced refractory consumption
- Better thermal efficiency
- It can also be operated with a weak grid
